Nobody Else But Me (Peter Bernstein)
PETER BERNSTEIN’S SOLO “Nobody Else But Me”
This solo is a great example of how you can expand the guitar’s melodic range to several different octaves. Bernstein plays it perfectly. He uses long lines to hit the high notes and also leaps into the lower notes to build a new phrase and to create contrast.
Either using the same note for a pedal tone but using it in different octaves, or trying to switch the melodic line by jumping into a new octave of the last note of your phrase, you should definitely check this score. It will give you a new perspective on how to structure a great solo.
